A boy and his bird
I just filmed this a few minutes ago and wanted to share.
I just filmed this a few minutes ago and wanted to share.
Yesterday evening Mike, Gregory and I were sitting on the back porch.
Gregory was playing with Mike then wanted to rinse off his feet (the chickens are in the back yard, so he had poop on his feed). He kept showing us, and knowing that we normally would just get up and turn on the water to rinse them off.
Instead, Mike took Gregory’s hand and put it on his mouth and said “water”…trying to get Gregory to say it. Finally, I suggested “wa-wa”. Gregory said it!!! WOOT!
Then, Gregory saw some planes overhead and pointed excitedly to them. Mike did the same thing and Gregory said “plane”.
This went on for about 30 minutes, I would say, and Gregory ended up saying not only those words, but “bird” and “splash”.
We were so excited. I hope this is the start of major communication. Not getting to hopeful, but any words is a great improvement.
He is 5 today!
It’s been a long 5 years, but then again, it seems like just yesterday my little guy was born.
He’s at school right now, I will snap a birthday photo and post it later today.
Happy Birthday Little Guy!
Gregory’s lungs sounded better today, so we’re just doing nebulizer treatements as needed. Glad no hospital stay this time.
Gregory is once again down. We just returned from the Doctor’s office, but thankfully, he was not admitted to the hospital…yet.
He was given a steroid shot and we go back at 9:30 tomorrow morning to see how his lungs sound.
Of course, with illness brings regression. He now is not eating again and barely drinking anything. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a better Gregory.
Gregory will turn five on April 15.
Finally, last week, he started feeding himself! He still only eats pureed foods, yogurt, applesauce and oatmeal, but this is a HUGE milestone for him!

We’re now working on potty learning. I’ve been changing diapers for 8 years, starting when Felicity was born…I’m ready to retire diapers for good!
Way to go my little man!
